I was two albums into beth orton
luckily i had posted after i finished the hearts so i didnt lose everything
paranoia can be productive
Beth Orton is another fantastic artist that I got into whilst exploring all things Ryan Adams. Not because she relates genre wise neccesarily but because they've collaborated, musically too. Shes a little bit of a slut i guess, but hey, i can dig it. I realized only recently, I can be slow that way, that she is the "little Daybreaker" he sings of in "English Girls, Approximately'. That tune being one of my favorites to play makes it even more ridiculous. I'm retarded! Its news...
Beth has always been somewhat of a critic's darling save for that album "Daybreaker". I dont really get why. I dug it almost as much as her latest, critically acclaimed relase "Comfort of Strangers", which was produced by one Mr. Jim O'Rourke and is another of my favorties so far this year woot!

Ward... another favorite of mine! could have seen him free while in new york last summer, alas my family pretty much sucks ...but broke them off in favor of working with O'Rourke. The bonus disc accompanying Comfort of Strangers offers some of the tracks they laid down.
What We BeginComfort of Strangers #9Northern Skywhen i saw the track listing for the bonus I was exteremely excited thinking Northern Sky might be a cover of one of my favorite songs of all time. Its not, but also not a bad tune in its own right.
Thats Mr. Ward throwing a line in on that early version of Comfort of Strangers. I'll have to throw some of his stuff up one time, O'Rourke too
heres a Ryan Adams duet

Last ups this afternoon goto The Essex Green
I started listening to these guys...yesterday. Id grabbed their new one on a reccomendation but so much other awesome shits been leaking I hadnt gotten to listening to it. Then I did. Three songs in I began scouring the internets looking for more. Im not quite sure how i'd overlooked them for so long. I'm a fan of pretty much everyone involved with Elephant6. I find myself ticking off down the roster to make sure I havent missed anyone else.
Coincidently, Essex Green drummer Tim Barnes (primarily of the Silver Jews) played on Comfort of Strangers. small world eh

I found another great utility to further the effort to make my collection organized and accesible.
http://oidua.suxbad.com/Oidua is a pretty excellent application that will take your music directory/ies and compile them into a list. I'm told its a bit of a pain in the ass to get going on a mac as the gui is windows only, but if any help is needed with the command line, feel free to messge me.
The other issue I have with it is that it doesnt recognize aac or wma, so im going to have to go through and add the albums i have in those formats manually. even so im fucking ecstatic that i found this.
heres my list so far.
ive still got a ways to go with the tagging and moving
