They dont even put on the siren
Awesome weekend. really fantastic. not only did i grab myself the honor of being the first to vomit on the lawn of my cousins new house, i was also the winner of "first to leave in an ambulance, tied to a stretcher". ive never been so proud
consecutive nights, by the way. pulling that off in one would have been amazing.
the look on the er doc's face when i explained that i hadnt really had that much to drink because id drank way too much the night before was the the fucking icing. if it were a comic book the thought bubbles would have gone something like; her - "wow this kid is a fucking idiot" me - "dont i fucking know it!". in the comic, i read minds. in real life i just realize im being a fucking idiot about five seconds (or five hours, months, whatever) too late, far too often.

the story is my explanation for not having my hard drive. i didnt think to call and ask my sister to grab my shit when she left my cousins the following afternoon and she didnt think about it at all. no surprises this weekend really
that wasnt much of a story anyway. i left out the best parts.
anyhow, im currently without my toothbrush, my favorite sandals, and 99% of my music collection.
its really a blessing in disguise because all ive got listen to is stuff ive downloaded in the past two weeks or so. that happens to include a bunch of albums that id had at bitrates that dont meet my standards (which are not nearly as high in any other circumstance), which happens to include Matt Nathansons discography.
and maybe if i let my breath get really bad, everyone will fucking leave me alone.

I was turned onto Matty by a friend and mutual Jason Mraz fan. I remember one road trip she and i took, hitting three Dave and friends shows in three nights (SD, LA, SF!!), that Matt's song 'I Saw" became the anthem for. Neither of us could stop fucking singing it. I dubbed that trip the "dont forget your pants! tour 2004". the story behind that isnt nearly as fun as one might think.
I once created a fictitious country and called it Matty-nay shun. My roommates at the time werent getting along and didnt understand when i declared myself switzerland. Being a complete ass about it was the next logical step in my mind. I have pictures of one of those girls doing homework and staring in an atlas at antarctica for a good half hour. i found out she was looking for a city in alaska when i finally got bored of playing with my camera and offered to help her.
would it be an understatment to say i digress? that makes me want to listen to the biddy bums
but i dont have any of them here :(

One perfect adjective that always seems to come up in descriptions of Matty Nays work is cathartic. One inclination i always encounter when listening to him is to throw my guitar out the window. I wish i could write like this.
maybe if i got a 12 string
hes a fucking great guy, nicest musician ive ever met, and puts on one of the most entertaining and fun shows ive ever seen. pretty too

pick it up bitches

a couple upcoming releases from artists ive already featured...

The Still - Without Feathers

Oh Shoplifter
Destroyer

Im not sure "disapointed" is really how i'd describe my feeling about this offering from these guys, whose first album I absolutely adore. They shook up the line-up, losing the guitarist whos name i dont remember, moving Dave Hammelin (whose babies i want to have) to that slot as well as giving him more lead vocal time, and adding keys.
adding keys didnt really suit them
they come off like shitty coldplay knockoffs for about half the album. the other half isnt too bad.
its due out in may. maybe buy it if its on sale and you really liked Logic Will Break Your Heart

Pilate - Sell Control For Life's Speed

Barely Listening
Turn the Lights On

These Canadians, unlike those ^ , very unexpectadly blew me away with their new one. I very much enjoyed their debut "Caught by the Window", but it seemed to me like they were, well, coldplay knockoffs.
This album isnt very much like their first. It goes from enjoyable to fucking stellar about thirty seconds into the first track. Its out in Canada late next month with no set US release date, though that oughta change very soon if theres any justice. Caught by the Window will be out in the US in May. its all about marketing i guess

its raining. hard.

The best part of the whole drama is that i broke my toe. i guess i fell really awkwardly. i think the toe breaking is what woke me up because thats the first thing i remember, after the last thing i remember. so if you havent got smelling salts handy, just try to force your syncope affected friend into a standing position while their foot is curled awkwardly beneath them. works like a charm.
the worst part of the whole mess was definitely how freaked out everyone was. though my opinion might change based on how well this scrape on my fucking forehead heals and what scarring, if any, there is.
theyd thought id had a seizure. i got to tick another diagnostic exam off my list as a result.
ct scan...check
it was clean. im running out of excuses

seriously
im just an asshole
