Emusic is my favorite of the legal msuic download services right now for the simple reason that their product contains no DRM. You can put it anywhere play it anywhere share with anyone. In fact a few of the tracks Im sharing today came from emusic. Another thing is that unlike shitty itunes, emusic gives you tracks that have been encoded with the higher quality lame aps. Theyve got loads of other selling points but those are the two that most appeal to me. Check them out if you're conscience has been weighing on you but you dont have that hot little indie record store in town that really deserves your money.
and dont tell anyone i told you but multiply that 50 free mp3s by however many credit cards you have

I became a member of LaLa about a week ago. Some geniuses up north, where they seem to have a monopoly on those, got together and started a service for people to trade their old cds. heres a bit on who and what they are from their site.
..."'la la' is the first online music store where music fans can trade CDs they own for CDs they want for $1 a CD. 'la la' also offers new full length albums and will sell digital album downloads, no singles. With immense admiration and gratitude to musicians, 'la la' is the first to introduce payments to musicians based on the trade of used recordings. 'la la' is based in beautiful Palo Alto, California."...
They're still in beta testing so theyve not implemented all the features and are invite only at this point. Maybe they'll spruce up that blurb once they really get going.
I've already received seven albums and shipped off eight. Its been an excellent way to find music that ive had trouble locating online.

Ive been looking for anything and everything from God is my Co-Pilot for months!

Id also highly reccomend checking out AJ Croce. Son of the late great Jim, AJs been all too quietly doing his thing for going on fifteen years. He started out as a bit of bluesman but has more recently been churning out some high quality singer songwriter type stuff. His latest, Cantos (which i downloaded via emusic) features a spot on cover of Maybe I'm Amazed that had my mom asking me to burn her that Paul McCartney cd i ws listening to.
I first started listening to AJ when his 2004 release Adrian James Croce was heavy in rotation on San Diego's KPRI. They played the shit out of that record for a couple months and I was hooked. I hadnt really listened to Jim Croce before then, but now hes one of my favorites. Its great to see such talent from one generation to the next, not just some hack trying to trade on the family name.
